We have been saddened by the loss three lionesses in Uganda. The three were found dead on an electric fence of a hotel at Katunguru in Rubirizi district. This loss is so disturbing. Such a fence should have no place in a protected area.

Our relationship with National Forestry Authority, an agency charged with the duty to manage all Central Forest Reserves in Uganda has materialized into a Memorandum of Understanding. We are looking forward to working together to keep trees standing for humans and the animals. When trees keep standing animals have where they call home and are safe.

The Uganda Wildlife Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after convicting him for the second time over illegal trade in elephant ivory. Ochiba Pascal alias Ismail aged 62 was on October 20th, 2022 sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted with an offence of unlawful possession of two pieces of elephant ivory contrary to section 71(1)(b) of the Uganda Wildlife Act of 2019.

Ochiba was in 2017 convicted on two counts of unlawful possession of four pieces of elephant ivory and a dry skin of okapi, an animal that is extinct in the wild in Uganda.
